Happy National Non-Profit Day & National Dog Day

Ever since York came to PA, he truly has had so many people in his corner from day one. The entire TLC family of volunteers have stood behind him.  From his fosters, his facebook and instagram supporters to the preschoolers from Goshen Baptist Nursery school, (his temporary fosters).  York had come from an abusive situation where his hind leg had been broken and not healed properly. York was the sweetest boy who gave nothing but love and the best puppy kisses to everyone he met.   After seeing an orthopedic surgeon, it was determined York was going to need to have his hind leg amputated to free him from the pain he was in. TLC kept their promise of a better tomorrow and York had his surgery.  His foster Manisha said the following:

“I feel truly blessed to have been a part of his journey. That little dude has taught me so much.”

The word resilience had a whole new meaning for York now. While we worried what would be his new "normal", he was out there finding his new spirit. If we could talk "dog" he probably would be surprised to hear that he is disabled. But the most important thing York taught us was to move forward no matter what life throws at you without wasting time.  York did not waste a minute.  With his pure and sweet soul, he was out enjoying life, free of pain.

“Every time I thought of the day when I would have to hand York over to his family, I thought my heart would not be able to deal with it. But when I met York's family, I felt oddly at peace.”

York's new parents truly were his new angels. We know he is going to have the best life with them hiking and playing with his big brother Franklin. They kept his name because they said York doesn't need a strong name to define him. York also got to play a part in his parents wedding in October!   We all know how well he wears that bow tie!

York’s family have sent an update with a quintessential York picture, which shows his spunk while he is playing with his 90 lb brother, Franklin.

“I feel I was destined to be a part of York's journey in helping him and finding his way to his family.

“...Happy life little one with the biggest heart!!”
