Mickey

Most likely to get knocked down (by the big dogs) and get up again

Until they ALL have a home… It’s our tagline for a reason. Back in March of 2023, we were approached by one of our shelter partners to take a litter of puppies. (And their mom, who we never leave behind!) The smallest puppy in the litter weighed just about 2 lbs and was completely deaf. We couldn’t wait to meet this special little guy.

After arriving in his foster home, Mickey was underweight, nervous and a total wallflower. In a span of 24 hours, he experienced his first long car ride, his first new (foster) home, his first time away from his siblings… The world must be pretty scary when you only weigh 2 lbs and can’t hear anything going on around you.

That’s where Mickey’s fear stopped. As he had time to settle in, gain a little weight and learn how to thrive without his hearing, Mickey’s personality blossomed. He became curious, energetic, playful… Given the safety of a loving home, consistency of nutritious meals, and a little patience, Mickey has become a spirited, well loved dog who is completely and totally spoiled. As we celebrate “Little Pampered Dog Day” on the 27th, we celebrate the big things such a little dog can overcome.

“How is your dog doing now that he is settled into your home, you ask?   Key word "settled" he is not!  He is starting to become a member of the household doing his best to play nicely with the other dogs.  He loves to zoom around the rooms late at night and he is a biter of all clothing that is below knee length.” - Mickey’s Forever Family

We promise to help dogs in need no matter their background, medical needs, or special care requirements.
